Join Us Parkside Athletic Club Welcome The Parkside Athletic Club (PAC) offers members of all levels of athletic ability the opportunity to learn, improve, and compete in the sport of racewalking. Club members, as part of their dues, get a weekly workout designed to improve some apsect of performance such as speed, endurance, technique, and learning how to pace yourself. There are a number of club members who run or compete and train in both sports. The scheduled workouts translate to both sports equally well. While access to the leading racewalk coach in the nation is reason enough to participate, the comaraderie and support from club members is often a key reason for membership. PAC weekly workouts are often a high point of each member's week. The only uniform characteristic among members is their supportive nature. Male and female members range in age from the early 30s into the 70s. Some join the club concerned they will "never survive" a workout of 4 half-miles. Others walk marathons. Some walk a mile in 8 minutes--others at 15. Some compete in national races and others find that learning to walk more efficiently is enough to keep them going. However EVERYONE has a winning attitude! |
